Weight
Choose a weight range or a precise weight. I you choose a precise weight, the final weight of your Yanlingdao may vary by up to ±40 g from the selected value. (For example, if you choose 740 g, the finished weight will range between 700 g and 780 g.)
-
800–950 g: average weight range of a forged steel Yanlingdao. Good for conditioning, but may be too heavy for long form training sessions, fine precision work, or high-speed sparring/free play.
-
700–800 g: most popular range among practitioners doing contact sparring and free play. An ideal balance between realistic weight and the ability to sustain endurance and speed. Betwween 700–760 g is often prefered.
-
600–700 g: likely the best range for most people focused mainly on extended training sessions of form work, technical contact drills (blade on blade). Can help beginners develop muscle and tendon endurance before moving to a heavier weight, if desired.
-
450–600 g: ideal for anyone prioritizing lightness for speed and precision, while still having proper balance and durability. Also well suited for smaller adults, teenagers, and some older practitioners.
